Rit Dye and water mixed to dye the coffee filters used to make the flowers that ran like a river down the center of the table. I used fuschia, red and petal pink. Let the coffee filters absorb different strengths of the dye mixed with water. Hang wet filters to dry on a clothes line.
Fringed scissors create some unique edges to the flowers. I also cut some into big petals using regular scissors. I used 3-5 filters for the outside petals and I used 3 for the inside stamens. Then I began hot gluing layers of filters together to make the flowers.
Crepe paper ruffle streamers: 2 different colors of streamers with both edges overlapping in the center. Sew a zig zag stitch dow the center while pushing folds of the streamer as the machine runs to create the ruffle. Place the finished flowers down the center of the table (Took me about 1-1/2 to glue them all up), raising some up in varying heights of milk glass vases. Then intertwine and weave the 2 different ruffles in and out of the coffee filter flowers going down the table. Cut glass plates, water goblets and gold chargers all found at the dollar store for a buck! I added cute paper straws and a variety of gingerbread and sugar cookies with beautiful white piping and soft pink frosting. Thank you Annie Larrabee for the amazing cookies!
